This Privacy Notice explains how Abdallah Cheikh ("Seller", "we", "us") processes personal data in connection with the vhdl2sv software, website, licensing, support, and commercial activities.

2. Scope

This notice covers personal data processed through:

  • the vhdl2sv website or landing pages
  • contact forms or email communications
  • quote, checkout, invoicing, and payment workflows
  • support requests
  • license issuance and validation workflows
  • account or customer record management

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, the desktop application and CLI process user project files locally. The product does not, by default, upload customer HDL source files to Seller-operated servers merely for local translation use.

3. Personal data we may process

Depending on the interaction, we may process:

  • name
  • company or organization name
  • email address
  • billing address
  • tax or VAT details
  • payment and transaction metadata
  • support communications and attachments
  • order history
  • licensee name, organization, and machine-binding data needed for license issuance or validation
  • website analytics or server logs, if enabled

We do not intentionally request special-category personal data.

4. Purposes and legal bases

We may process personal data for the following purposes:

  • to respond to enquiries and demo requests
  • to issue quotes, invoices, licenses, and order confirmations
  • to deliver the Software and related updates
  • to provide customer support
  • to prevent abuse, fraud, unauthorized redistribution, or license misuse
  • to comply with tax, accounting, and legal obligations
  • to improve the product and service quality

Where applicable under GDPR, our legal bases may include:

  • performance of a contract
  • steps taken at the data subject's request before entering into a contract
  • compliance with legal obligations
  • legitimate interests, such as product security, support, and anti-abuse
  • consent, where required

5. License and machine-binding data

If a node-locked or host-bound license model is used, we may process technical machine-identification data necessary to issue or validate the license.

This data is processed only for license administration, anti-abuse, and support purposes and is not sold.

6. Recipients and processors

We may share personal data with service providers acting on our behalf, such as:

  • payment processors or merchant-of-record providers
  • email providers
  • hosting providers
  • customer-support tooling providers
  • accountants, legal advisers, or auditors where necessary

We do not sell personal data.

7. International transfers

If service providers are located outside the EEA/UK/Switzerland, personal data may be transferred internationally. Where required, we will use appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

8. Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes stated in this notice, including:

  • contract and support history for the duration of the customer relationship and a reasonable follow-up period

  • license records for as long as needed to administer valid licenses, prevent misuse, and handle support or audit issues
